About

Jo Pardoe b. 1962, Nottingham UK

I have been creating art for over 40 years using a variety of media. I studied sculpture at the Birmingham School of Art and this continues to influence and inform my paintings, often resulting in richly textured surfaces.

I have spent a lot of time on the East coast of England in Lincolnshire and my gently abstract landscapes are often inspired by this area with its vast flat open spaces and ever changing skies. They often have a dreamlike quality creating environments which invite the viewer to linger and become absorbed in the landscape as it emerges from the canvas.

I am influenced by many different artists including Turner, Paul Klee, Richard Diebenkorn and Peter Lanyon.

In 2015 I completed a Masters Degree in Art Psychotherapy and this has given me a particular interest in the ways in which the unconscious mind might influence and inform creative work.

I currently live and work in The Yorkshire Dales and share my time between creating and teaching art.
